"Get in touch with the city's spiritual side at the mystical Wong Tai Sin Temple"
Set up in 1921, this temple is dedicated to Wong Tai Sin, an enlightened Taoist from the 4th century. At just 15 years old, Wong learnt how to cure illness using medicine made from cinnabar. He became an immortal and spent the rest of his life helping the sick and wounded.
Nowadays, It is believed that Wong still grants wishes to those who ask. From the ill to businessmen, humans from all walks of life come to this temple in search of guidance. It is believed that the earlier in the year you visit the temple, the more luck it will bring.
Begin your visit to Wong Tai Sin at the market place, located near the entrance to the temple. Here, you can find incense sticks, offerings for the Gods and lucky charms. If you would like to pay respect to the Gods in the temple, buy some incense sticks.
Then, make your way into the temple. Just up from the stairs, you will find a station with candles. Light each incense stick and carry on into the temple.
On the left, you will pass by 3 holy shrines dedicated to the God of fortune, wealth, and marriage. Bow your head 3 times for each God to pay respects.

The main altar in the centre of the temple is dedicated to Wong Tai Sin. Once again, bow your head 3 times. If you wish, you may offer a solemn prayer. You will see incense holders in front of the alter, place an incense in each.
Then, get your fortune told just behind the temple's main alter with “Kau Cim”, a practise originated from ancient China. It involves the person kneeling down, then asking a personal question to Wong Tai Sin and shaking a bamboo cylinder holding 100 numbered sticks. The first stick to fall is said to be your answer.
Tip: Watch others if you are unsure how to shake the sticks. Ask a direct question about whatever you wish. Don't forget your Kau Cim number as you will need it later.

Visit one of the several soothsayer stalls in the temple to interpret your Kau Cim stick number for a nominal cost. These fortune-tellers also practice palm and face readings.
